PRINCIPLES OF HEALTH SCIENCE


Health Science I is the foundation class for the Sports Medicine Academy at SSHS and is the prerequisite for students wanting to enter Sports Medicine. Students must fill out the Sports Medicine application and be approved to be considered for this class. This year-long course will allow students basic insight into the overall health care system. Areas of study include history and trends in health care, laws and ethics, anatomy and physiology, healthcare delivery systems, medical terminology, and careers in health care. Students will become CPR certified through the American Heart Association.  Humanities graduation requirement.This class incorporates labs and the use of technology to promote hands-on learning and engagement in a skilled environment. This class fulfills the Health requirement for graduation. This class is classified as a Career and Technical Education (CTE) class and fulfills the Arts and Humanities graduation requirement.
