WELCOME TO THE ACADEMY!
The Sports Medicine curriculum provides a unique education experience for high school students in Northern Nevada.  In this academy, students will learn and understand how to examine the different areas of the body through application of anatomical, physiological, kinesiological, and biomechanical concepts learned in class.  Medical concepts are presented through project-based learning, hands-on application, and technology use.  Students have the potential to earn multiple college credits in this Academy!  The Sports Medicine curriculum is designed to provide a well-rounded and challenging academic experience for students interested in the Sports Medicine Field including:
ATHLETIC TRAINING
PHYSICAL THERAPY
ORTHOPEDICS

EXERCISE SCIENCE
GENERAL MEDICINE
ALLIED HEALTH OR PARAMEDICAL PROFESSIONS

Through the coursework in this academy, contact hours will be required by working NIAA sporting events and practices under direct supervision of the certified athletic trainer.  The purpose of these contact hours are to allow academy students to apply knowledge and concepts learned through practical application.  This practical application better prepares students for their Nevada State exams allowing them to earn a CTE Sports Medicine Endorsement on their high school diploma.
